PèTROZORB is a range of oil and chemical absorbent products that offer rapid absorption and remediation of environment spills from hydrocarbon and chemicals, both on water and land. It is a field-proven industrial absorbent that is an economical, fast-acting solution to an environmental problem that could otherwise take years to resolve.
The PèTROZORB Range consists of a choice of five different types of organic fibre absorbents, used for the absorption of hazardous environmental spill with the added advantage of bioremediation of contaminated soil.
The PèTROZORB Range consists of a choice of five different types of organic fibre absorbents, used for the absorption of hazardous environmental spill with the added advantage of bioremediation of contaminated soil.
PèTROZORB Absorbents comprises of a matrix of capillaries exposing a large surface area to the hydrocarbon or chemical spill. The high surface tension within these capillaries enables the organic fibre within the product range to hold between 5 to 14 times its own weights in liquids. This gives it the ability to absorb spills which have occurred over vast areas on land and water.
It will not leach or discharge absorbed pollutants, making it clean and easy to handle. The PèTROZORB range of products’ high vapour suppression capacity reduces combustion vapours, eliminating the chance of explosion.
The entire PèTROZORB product range is non-abrasive, non-toxic, non-leaching, non-carcinogenic, and in its natural state is already biodegraded. It can also be used by anybody – it doesn’t require any protective clothing or specialised training technicians to handle and dispose of the product.

DESCRIPTION:
Natural Organic Oil & Chemical Spill Absorbent Fibre INGREDIENTS: PèTROZORB – Bronze is made from a proprietary blend of Coco Peat (Cocos nucifera Peat) which is a cellulose organic fibre, plus two species of pine bark: Pinus elliottii and Pinus patula. HOW IT WORKS: Its absorbent ability is due to its highly porous ultra-structure, together with its surface properties. This makes it highly effective in absorbing hydrophobic substances. The physical structure of the matrix of capillaries allows the product to absorb hydrocarbons. This traps the pollutant within the fibre, preventing leaching. The pine bark within this product acts as an absorbent with a naturally occurring micro-organism that assists in the degradation of the pollutant. When used, PèTROZORB – Bronze remains environmentally friendly throughout the process. It does not change its structure, and it does not release into the environment the pollutants it has just absorbed. This differentiates it from other products which use sunflower husks, wood sawdust, paper, straw, clay or certain cotton bases, which all have the potential to release the hydrocarbons. |
DESCRIPTION:
Natural Organic Oil & Chemical Spill Absorbent Fibre (with oil digesting microbes) INGREDIENTS: PèTROZORB – Silver is made from a proprietary blend of Coco Peat (Cocos nucifera Peat), which is a cellulose organic fibre, plus two species of pine bark: Pinus Elliottii and Pinus Patula. Added to this are multiple strains of favourable aerobic and anaerobic microbes. HOW IT WORKS: The PèTROZORB – Silver contains oil degrading microbes, which retain organic materials and reject inorganic ions. These tough aerobic and anaerobic microbes are absorbed on the surface of the organic absorbent fibre and lie dormant until they come into contact with water. The micro-organisms then have the ability to degrade a wide range of petroleum hydrocarbons, producing harmless by-products such as carbon dioxide and water. The pine bark within this product acts as an absorbent and microbial bio-mass. The native South African microbes found on the surface of this bark helps decompose organic matter and digest hydrocarbons /oils. PèTROZORB – Silver contains the same properties and characteristics as PèTROZORB – Bronze. |
DESCRIPTION:
Coco Peat Oil & Chemical Absorbent Fibre INGREDIENTS: PèTROZORB – Gold is manufactured from 100% Coco Peat (Cocos nucifera Peat), a cellulose organic fibre. HOW IT WORKS: The absorbency is based on its highly porous ultra-structure. The physical structure of the matrix of capillaries, allows the product to absorb hydrocarbons, allowing the pollutant to remain within the product without leaching. Even traps flammable fumes, assisting with fire control at spills. PèTROZORB - Gold has a natural ability to easily and quickly absorb spillages by using its oleophilic qualities to reduce the mess to a clean, safe, workable area again. The key to the success is the unique box like molecular structure of every Crum sized speck of the fibres. This presents a huge surface tension area with capillary action to absorb oils and other liquids into its cellular structure, whilst retaining non-skid ability. The structure permits a 36% Air Filled Porosity (AFP) that allows it to float on any liquid to be absorbed. Will act immediately on contact, absorb 90% of its capacity in the first few minutes, which is critical for a quick response clean up. The product will continue to absorb over a long period and not allow any leach-back. Furthermore, PèTROZORB – Gold retains its consistency so that it will not turn to “mush”. This allows the oil-saturated product to be scooped up or raked from the surface of the water relatively easily. It is light in weight and creates very little dust, even when it is scattered over vast distances on hard surfaces. |
DESCRIPTION:
Peat Moss Oil & Chemical Absorbent Fibre INGREDIENTS: PèTROZORB – Peat Moss is manufactured from 100% Natural Premium Sphagnum Peat Moss (Van Post Grade H1-H3) that is activated by a proprietary air-dried and heat-treated process. HOW IT WORKS: The specialized heat treatment and air-drying process reduces the moisture content to approximately 10-14%; at this level the peat fibre’s water retention feature changes. It becomes hydrophobic (repels water) and absorbs hydrocarbons. The reversal of the hydrophobic properties is caused by the release of natural wax from within the cell during the proprietary process. The natural wax coats the fibres, resulting in a hydrophobic property. The inherent capillary action of the activated peat provides a powerful wicking action that encapsulates oils, solvents, heavy metals, pesticides, herbicides and all other organic chemicals on contact. It suppresses vapours and absorbs hydrocarbons on land or water in dry or wet conditions. It will not leach or discharge absorbed pollutants, making it clean and easy to use. PèTROZORB – Peat Moss Absorbent is hydrophobic, non-abrasive, non-toxic, non-leaching, non-carcinogenic, and in its natural state is already biodegraded. It can also be used by anybody – it doesn’t require any protective clothing or specialised training technicians to handle and dispose of the product. |
